We will explain what Microsoft Rewards is and how it works, also mentioning how you can get points with it and how to start participating. It is a Microsoft rewards program for all its users, and among the countries where it is active are Spain and Mexico.
The concept is simple, earn points interacting with Microsoft tools and exchange them for gifts. So that everything is clear, we will start explaining what exactly this program is, and we will continue telling you the methods to earn points with it. Then, we will end with the simple method by which you can start participating.
What is Microsoft Rewards?
Microsoft Rewards is a points and rewards program created by Microsoft. The idea is to try to build loyalty as a user, offering you points for using company products such as your search engine or your app store. Sometimes there may also be some kind of survey or action you can do on the Rewards website to earn points, at least when you first enter.
It is a free program, which means that to participate you do not need to pay any fees or registration. It is a program that is included in your Microsoft account, so it means that if you have created a Hotmail or Outlook email you can access it.
Its concept is the same as that of any other points program. You are doing actions and accumulating points, and then you can spend it on different things. For example, you can redeem your points for Microsoft gift cards, but you can also use them to participate in monthly raffles on Surface computers or Xbox OneX consoles.
Initially, the program was exclusive to users in the United States. But as of 2018, it began to expand. You can currently participate if you live in Spain, Mexico, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States.
The program also allows you to set goals, and in fact, it gives you points the first time you set one. These objectives serve to tell you how many points you have left to get a certain prize that interests you. In any case, you should know that even if you set a goal that does not prevent you from spending your points on other things.
How Microsoft Points are Earned
The first time you access the Microsoft Rewards program, you will have a series of challenges with which to earn your first points. These are mostly tutorials to learn how to use and move through the awards program. However, when you complete them all you will be left with just 500 points, little considering that a gift card of 10 euros is worth 10,000 points.
You can also earn points when surfing the internet using Microsoft products, such as the Edge browser and the Bing search engine. Microsoft does not specify the amount of points to be earned with this method from Windows 10 or 8.1, but you can earn points even when you search from Cortana in Bing. Of course, when doing all this from Windows you will have to have the session started with your account.
Another possibility is to earn points from your mobile phone. To do this you must have the Bing or Microsoft Launcher mobile application installed. In this case, it is not specified how many points you earn, they only say that you will get them when you search Bing or make purchases in the Microsoft Store from any mobile when you have your Microsoft account started.
When you buy from the Microsoft Store of your computer you also earn points, as well as with some specific promotions. For example, in June 2019 you have the promotion of winning 2,500 if you rent three movies at the Microsoft store. Of course, do this only if you are really interested in renting movies, because you will spend about 12 euros that would be equivalent to 12,000 points, but you will only earn 2,500.
And finally, you can also earn points from your Xbox One. You will earn them by completing searches with Xbox Game Pass, by buying games and products, by searching Bing, with special offers of new releases and taking advantage of daily and weekly questionnaires. For all this, you will have to Download the Microsoft Rewards application for Xbox.
The Microsoft Rewards program has a level system, and the more points you get, the higher your level will be. The grace is that the more levels you raise the better the rewards and chances of earning points, something that motivates you to continue browsing the program.
How to Start using Microsoft Rewards
Starting to use Microsoft Rewards on your computer is very simple. You just have to go to the microsoft.com/en-us/rewards, log in with your Microsoft account and click on the Subscribe now link, free that you will see on this page.
With this, you will access the main Microsoft Rewards website, where you will have the entire control panel with the information. On the Rewards page, by default, you will enter the Win section, where you can see all the promotions that are active to get points with your account, as well as the counter with all the ones you’ve won so far.
You also have a Redeem section, where you can access the list of all the prizes you can request with this program. You can order them depending on the price in points that cost, and even perform searches to find them or select them for store purchases, sweepstakes or solidarity products and donations.
Finally, you have three other sections that are Community, State, and Winners. In the first one, you can send and request points to the rest of the family members that you have configured in your Microsoft account. With State you can see your level in Rewards, the higher the rewards you report, and in Winners, you can see who has won the draws in which you have decided to participate.
